Strategically, Slavia Prague's manager, Jindřich Trpišovský, has revealed the fruitful decision to include Muhamed Tijani in the starting lineup against Banik Ostrava was motivated by the Nigerian forward's intimate understanding of his former team, following his recent €1.26 million transfer from Banik.
Despite Tijani initially being a substitute in Slavia's first four games, the move to start him against his former teammates bore fruit as he secured his debut goal for Slavia in the 47th minute, contributing to their fifth consecutive league win this season.
Manager Trpišovský explained that Tijani's inclusion was based on multiple factors, including his knowledge of opponents, confidence in certain players, and the belief in his impact during competitive play.
The upcoming UEFA Europa League qualifying playoff against Ukraine's Zorya adds to Slavia's immediate concerns.
