Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino included Lesley Ugochukwu and Noni Madueke in the starting lineup for the first time this season during their 2-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup's second round on Wednesday.
AFC Wimbledon took the lead with a 19th-minute penalty converted by James Tilley following a foul by Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez. However, Chelsea was awarded a penalty just before halftime due to a foul on Madueke.
Madueke, 21 years old, seized the opportunity to score his inaugural goal for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge by converting the penalty. Enzo Fernández later secured the victory for Chelsea with a 72nd-minute goal from outside the box.
Madueke was substituted for Moises Caicedo in the 81st minute, marking his second appearance for Chelsea this season. In contrast, Ugochukwu completed the entire game, marking his third appearance but his first start for the club.
