Felix Uduokhai renews Augsburg contract, extending his stay
Posted : 17 August 2023
Felix Uduokhai, once a target of the Nigeria Football Federation, has reversed his previous stance and prolonged his tenure with German Bundesliga side Augsburg.
Initially declining to extend his contract, which was set to conclude at the end of the 2023-2024 season, the former German youth international has now committed to Augsburg until June 30, 2025, adding an extra year to his deal on Wednesday.
Since his initial loan move in 2019, which later became a permanent arrangement, Uduokhai has amassed 91 appearances across various competitions for Augsburg, finding the net once. With a total of 117 matches in the Bundesliga since his debut in August 2017, he has also scored twice.
Discussing his decision, Uduokhai stated on the club's official website: "After I had told the management ahead of the training camp that I didn’t want to extend my contract, I had a rethink. The training camp and the weeks of pre-season have shown me that the changes initiated by the club are very promising. Great characters have been signed who are helping the team and we have a great spirit within the whole squad. That convinced me to change my mind."
