Brighton loan Ansu Fati for Manchester City's Joao Cancelo

In a surprising move, Spain forward Ansu Fati is on the verge of completing a season-long loan transfer to Brighton from Barcelona.
Fati's position in the Barcelona hierarchy has diminished, and the club is in need of creating room in their squad to facilitate the loan signing of Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo.
Brighton's agreement to acquire the 20-year-old does not come with an obligation to make the transfer permanent.
While Tottenham had also shown interest in Fati, he is reported to have been impressed by Brighton's playing style under the management of Roberto de Zerbi.
Should the arrangement proceed as intended, it would mark a significant achievement for Brighton. The team is gearing up to participate in European competition this season for the first time, having secured a spot in the Europa League.
Fati, who was born in Guinea-Bissau but opted to represent Spain, was part of the Spanish squad for the World Cup last year. He is widely recognized as one of the most promising young talents in the sport.
In 2021, Fati extended his contract with Barcelona until 2027, which included an extraordinary 1 billion euro buyout clause.
