ESL announce Call of Duty Mobile World Championship at DreamHack Atlanta

Posted : 05 September 2023
ESL, the esports tournament organizer under the ESL FACEIT Group, has announced that the upcoming Call of Duty Mobile World Championship will be hosted during DreamHack Atlanta. This exciting event is scheduled to take place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from December 15th to 17th, bringing together 16 teams vying for a substantial $1 million prize pool.

The Call of Duty Mobile World Championship will occupy a prominent esports segment within DreamHack Atlanta, alongside other noteworthy competitions like the ESL Challenger CS:GO tournament, various fighting games tournaments, and the ESL StarCraft 2 Masters tournament.

The inclusion of Call of Duty Mobile in this event was initially revealed in April 2023 as part of a broader agreement between Activision, the developer of Call of Duty, and the ESL FACEIT Group. The mobile version of Call of Duty has established its presence across the Snapdragon Pro Series, an extensive mobile esports competitive circuit that also features popular titles like Clash Royale, MLBB, Brawl Stars, and Asphalt 9, among others.

The Snapdragon Pro Series encompasses multiple events worldwide, with Call of Duty Mobile being a featured game in all competitive regions. Furthermore, Call of Duty Mobile is included in the Series' Masters Tier, offering top-tier players the opportunity to qualify for the Snapdragon Pro Series Mobile Masters event set for early 2024.

This marks the second consecutive year that the World Championship is hosted in North America. Tribe Gaming, an esports organization, currently holds the title as the reigning champion, having secured victory in last year's event held in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In the competitive landscape of Call of Duty Mobile, changes were introduced for the 2023 season due to the partnership between the EFG and Activision. While the main event's prize pool is slightly lower than the previous year ($1 million compared to $1.7 million), it is balanced by various activations, rewards, and smaller competitions throughout the year.
