Brume vows excellence as Team Nigeria starts Budapest journey

Posted : 18 August 2023
Ese Brume, a World Championships silver medalist, arrived in Budapest for the 19th edition of the championship, pledging not to disappoint Nigerians.

As a prominent participant in Nigeria's medal campaign, Brume aims to give her best and achieve her goals, with her previous silver medal in Oregon making her Nigeria's potential podium hope.

Having consistently competed since her debut in 2017, Brume's arrival in Budapest marks her fourth appearance in the championships.

Brume's focus and determination remain strong despite battling fitness challenges in the lead-up to the event.

If she performs as she has in the past, a gold medal would make her the first Nigerian track and field star to secure medals in all three categories at the championships.

Joining Brume is fellow long jumper Ruth Usoro and sprinters Seye Ogunlewe, Ushoritse Itshekiri, and Favour Ashe on the opening day, while Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, a three-time Nigerian shot-put champion, aims to make history as the first Nigerian to secure a podium finish in the Shot-Put event.
